Photography Competition!
Catalyst is inviting local residents to take part in ‘Our Place’, a photography competition celebrating the community’s view of West Bank, Widnes and Halton. From Landscapes and landmarks to everyday moments and places that tell the story of our community and its heritage, including links to the area’s chemical industries; we want to see what makes this area special to you!
Who can enter?
The public competition is open to anyone in the local community. Photographs can be taken using any camera or smartphone.
Theme: ‘Our Place’
Your photo could show:
- Local streets, buildings or landscapes
- Community life and local events
- Historic or industrial sites
- Places connected to the area’s chemical heritage
- Small details that capture the spirit of the area
Competition timeline
The competition will run from 27th July to 31st August and winners will be announced in September 2026.
Prizes
Two winners will be selected from the public competition.
Winning photographs will
- Be printed as postcards
- Be sold in the Catalyst Gift Shop
- Form part of a special set of four postcards celebrating the area
- Winners will receive an annual pass

The postcards will launch alongside the opening of Catalyst’s newly refurbished exhibition in early 2027, which is being delivered as part of the Synergy Project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Catalyst is a registered charity, and all proceeds go towards keeping our doors open for people of all ages to visit and learn.
