Rhydymwyn – Randle’s Little Sister
Colin Barber, Chairman of Rhydymwyn Valley Historical Society

During World War II mustard gas was being manufactured at ICI Randle Works in Runcorn for possible use as a poison gas in the war. Initially, the gas was retained at Randle’s, although it was stored in small containers, dispersed around the site. It was recognised that, with German bombers often in the area, this was a major risk. Instead, the storage was moved to Rhydymwyn Valley, north of Mold in North Wales. Later, early work on the atom bomb was also done there.
Colin has collected together a great deal of memories, information, photos, etc. & can tell a very interesting story.
As we incur some expense in running SciBar, we will ask you to pay at least £3 so as we can make a contribution to those expenses.
