Heritage Open Day
Visit Catalyst FREE OF CHARGE on Sunday 16th September as part of the National Heritage Open Day Events.
Catalyst will be opening up aspects of its archives, in particular, its Mond archives with a display about the life of Frida Mond and an illustrated talk from Dr Diana Leitch at 1.00pm about the Mond family and their influence locally.
To celebrate the Heritage Open Day topic of Extraordinary Women, there will also be a display of rare children’s books written by two extraordinary local women; Margaret and Mary Baker.
For families with young children you may wish to take part in a hands-on workshop or see a science show.
Soap Suds, will take place at 11:30am and 2:00pm and will give you an opportunity to learn about making soap before you create your very own bar of soap to take home.
The Light Fantastic interactive science show will take place at 12:30pm and 3:00pm, with demonstrations using a plasma ball, a thermal imaging camera, fibre optics and more!
Tickets for the show or the workshop cost £1.25 per person available on the day from reception.
