Festival of Archaeology

As part of the Council for British Archaeology Festival 2026, Kin by Nettie CIC presents Salt of the Earth, an interactive sensory story for families looking to explore Widnes’ salt-making heritage.

Through movement, storytelling and the Kin-pothecary, a hands-on cabinet of curiosity inspired by traditional salt making, families will discover how salt shaped the town, the people who worked in the industry, and why it played such an important role in Widnes’ history ✨

Suited to families with primary-aged children, complementing KS1 local history learning.

Sunday 2nd August | 11am and 1pm
