Volunteering at Catalyst

From making new friends to preserving our local history, inspiring young ones into a love of science or simply enhancing your CV, volunteering is a great opportunity to make a real difference. At Catalyst there’s something for everyone.

Which volunteer are you?

Currently Recruiting

Event and Activity Helper
We’re looking for enthusiastic, approachable, and community‑minded volunteers to help bring our events to life. If you love meeting new people, supporting your community, and getting involved in something meaningful, we’d love to have you on board!
You’ll receive full training and ongoing support, and you’ll have the chance to assist with a range of events during the week, plus occasional ad‑hoc evening sessions are available. Whether you’re helping with setup, welcoming attendees, or keeping things running smoothly, your contribution will make a real difference.
If you’re positive, friendly, and ready to get stuck in, come join us—we can’t wait to work with you!

Science Busker
Can you strike up conversations with complete strangers? Would you like to mesmerise people with science tricks and keep them saying ‘wow!’? We’re looking for confident, chatty, outgoing volunteers to ‘science busk’ (no guitar required) inside or outside Catalyst for a couple of hours, perhaps at a weekend or during school holidays – leaving visitors wanting more . . . science! Full training provided – just bring your energy with you!
