Friends of Catalyst awarded Big Lottery Funding
In Feb 2018 The Friends of Catalyst group were awarded funding from Big Lottery – Awards for All – to enable them to bring in a part time Volunteer Coordinator to work alongside staff at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes.
After a competitive recruitment programme they are pleased to announce that they have appointed Clare Bedford to the role. Some of you may know Clare from her work with Widnes Foodbank and the group is delighted to have such an experienced person in the position.

Her task now will be to co-ordinate the volunteering positions and volunteers at Catalyst as well as recruiting new volunteers.
Catalyst already has many hard working volunteers and Clare is looking forward to meeting them and helping to create new opportunities for people who might like to get involved in the future.
On joining Catalyst, Clare said “I feel privileged to be involved with Catalyst. The Discovery Centre runs with such a small, dedicated group of people who are capturing the local history of the Chemical Industry and at the same time inspiring young people with science. I hope we can excite volunteers to get involved with this charity – that’s such a gem on our doorsteps.”
Clare will be based in Catalyst for 2 days per week and if you have any spare time and would like to discuss volunteering opportunities please feel free to contact her, initially via Catalyst’s main number 0151 420 1121 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
