Catalyst welcomes new education staff
Catalyst is really pleased to announce the appointment of three new staff members in the education team.
Heather Wark (above left) has been appointed as Education Officer and will be teaching alongside our Education Manager Lucinda Lewis. Heather has just completed her PhD in Particle Physics and has experience in teaching a variety of age groups. On her appointment Heather said ” I am a strong believer in the importance of science education and engagement – be it to share the wonder with children, to inspire young people to follow careers in STEM or to improve the scientific literacy of the general public. To me, STEM is an awe-inspiring wonder, I see it everywhere around me, every day and I take every opportunity to share that enthusiasm with anyone I can!”
Amy Lunt (above middle) has joined our weekend science presenter team. Amy has just finished her Masters in Chemistry and has just started a PhD in Robotics at the Materials Innovation Factory. On joining Catalyst Amy said “Having visited the discovery centre as a child, I distinctly remember my positive experience and would love to be able to offer the same to other people.”
Oliver Macaulay (above right) has also joined our weekend science presenter team. Oliver is a Biochemistry student at the University of Leeds and has just completed an ERASMUS year at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. A keen actor in his spare time, Oliver said he is looking forward to a great sense of satisfaction when young people have that ‘lightbulb’ moment.
We extend a warm welcome to our new education team and look forward to working alongside them in the future.
