Catalyst welcomes new Chief Executive Officer!

Chair of the Catalyst Trustees, Dr Diana Leitch MBE is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Pearson as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Martin agreed to join Catalyst on a part-time basis and will bring over 35 years’ experience across the engineering, business and science sectors.  Martin started his career in the Merchant Navy and has previously held roles as Managing Director of a large, UK based science company and was also Director of Dungeness B Nuclear Power Station in Kent.

Martin is a board trustee of Youth Federation and Stick ‘n’ Step and is also deputy chair of Active Cheshire.  He is married with six children and three grandchildren and a lifelong supporter of Liverpool football club.

On his appointment, Martin said “I am thrilled to be joining the Catalyst team and continuing the great work in ‘preserving the past’ and ‘inspiring the future generation’ to enjoy what science has to offer in a fun, educational and inspiring way.  I look forward to building strong relationships with local stakeholders as we look to rejuvenate Catalyst over the next few years.

Dr Diana Leitch said “The Trustees and staff of Catalyst were delighted to welcome Martin to this new role of Chief Executive Officer on 1st July and look forward to working with him as we move Catalyst forward in to a new era and its fourth decade. His depth and breadth of industrial and business experience will be invaluable as will his personal and leadership qualities and experience of working in the educational charity sector. Catalyst is on the cusp of great change in serving the locality around Halton but also the North West Region and we believe he is the right person for that task. An added bonus is that he supports the same team as me”.
